ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP

Welcome to the Yango Fellowship Program, a partnership between Yango and the Zambian National STEM Foundation dedicated to nurturing Zambia’s next generation of STEM leaders through financial support, mentorship and professional development opportunities.

Financial Support

Annual stipend of $1,000 per year covering housing, internet, food, stationery, and general student needs.

Guidance from industry experts and academic mentors.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Academic Requirments

Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a recognized university in Zambia. Must have scored 6-12 points on their Grade 12 Certificate (For first year students) Must have cleared all courses in their previous year of study (Second Year and Above)

Field of Study

Applicants must be pursuing a degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field such as:

– Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical etc.)
– Computer Science/Information Technology
– Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, Medicine etc.)
– Mathematics or Statistics

Location

STEM Students at Lusaka based Universities

Leadership and Extracurricular Activities

Involvement in extracurricular activities related to STEM fields (e.g., clubs, competitions, projects) and demonstrated leadership skills.

Special Consideration

You will be highly considered if you are a Yango Partner’s: (1) driver, (2) courier, or (3) family member of (1) or (2).

Citizenship

Applicants must be citizens of Zambia (Must have a Green National Registration Card)

Age

18 – 25 years old

Year of Study

Must currently be enrolled in
First Year to Seventh Year

Essay or Statement of Purpose

A personal statement or essay describing career goals, reasons for choosing STEM, and how the fellowship would contribute to your educational and professional aspirations.

Recommendations

Submission of at least one academic reference letter from your lecturer of the University familiar with the applicant’s academic achievements and potential.

Compliance and Integrity

Applicants must agree to comply with the terms and conditions of the fellowship, including maintaining academic standards and ethical behavior.

National Registration Card

Grade 12 Certificate and/or University Transcripts for years completed

Proof of admission into a University in Lusaka, Zambia

2 Letters of recommendation from your University and/or Community leader e.g Church

Any additional documents such as awards or achievments

We need your proof of acceptance into a University, hence, you will need to apply for admission into a University before the deadline.

We will be hosting networking and mentorship events hence we need students within reach to attend these events. Universities outside Lusaka will not be eligible in this case.

You are eligible to apply as long as you are able to attend the fellowship programs such as industry tours and workshops within Lusaka

No, this program is aimed at helping you cover your basic needs like accommodation, internet, groceries etc excluding your tuition fees.

Yango partners’ drivers and couriers, their family members are highly encouraged to apply.
